Florida hard rock heavyweights Alter Bridge are currently embarked on their “The Last Hero Tour,” which kicked off last month with help from direct support band and fellow Floridian rockers Nonpoint. The trek hit a snowy New York City last week on February 9th, for a packed gig at Time Square’s PlayStation Theater, boasting opening support from newcomers Weapons of Anew.
Alter Bridge‘s set consisted of a slew of hits from their previous albums; One Day Remains (2004), Blackbird (2007), AB III (2010) and Fortress (2013), busting out fan-favorite songs such as “Addicted to Pain,” “Ghost of Days Gone By,” “Watch Over You” and “Open Your Eyes.” The foursome – led by main vocalist/guitarist Myles Kennedy and rounded out by guitarist/backing singer Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips – also performed singles from their newest LP, The Last Hero, dishing out critically acclaimed tracks like the set’s leadoff track “The Writing on the Wall,” plus “My Champion,” “The Last Hero” and night’s final song “Show Me a Leader.”
Nonpoint warmed up the crowd with anthems from their latest studio album, The Poison Red, including cuts such as “Divided.. Conquer Them” and “My Last Dying.” The guys complimented their set with classic tracks like “What a Day,” “Breaking Skin” and their heroic cover of Phil Collins‘ “In the Air Tonight.” Weapons of Anew ignited the night promptly at 7:30PM, displaying pure energy as they rocked out to their new songs “Brave,” “Killshot” and “This Moment,” to name a few.
