Canadian prog metal unit Protest the Hero and PA metal shredders August Burns Red, along with openers In Hearts Wake and ’68, recently hiked through North America on a monumental, 30-plus date tour. The lengthy outing came to fruition in early January on the east coast, hitting New York City along the way for a concert at Time Square’s PlayStation Theater on Jan. 6th (see photos).
The run returned to the Tri-state area two weeks ago on Feb. 11th for a lively gathering at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ. Protest the Hero rocked the evening with songs from their efforts Scurrilous, Volition and Fortress, complimented with a pair of tracks from the band’s latest EP, Pacific Myth, including tracks “Tidal” and “Harbinger.”
The trek also saw August Burns Red commemorate the release of their second album Messengers with a full performance of said full-length at every stop, highlighting fan-favorite songs such as “Composure” and “Back Burner.” The band also performed cuts from their LPs Leveler, Rescue & Restore, Constellations and their latest opus on Fearless Records, Found in Far Away Places.
Protest the Hero return to the road this spring for a string of appearances in Canada, New Zealand and Australia (full dates). August Burns Red‘s spring schedule sees them tackling markets in Alaska, UK, Germany and much more (full details).
