Photos: Mayhem, Inquisition & Black Anvil defiled a sold-out Gramercy Theatre (2/19)
Norwegian black metal tyrants Mayhem recently set out on a month-long headlining crusade through North America, performing their legendary first full-length album, De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, on every stop of the trip. Flaunting support from infamous BM duo Inquisition and New York City’s own blackened thrash metal attack Black Anvil, the 20-plus city outing kicked off mid-January in Canada and came to a grand close in NYC at a mega sold-out Gramercy Theatre this past Sunday, February 19. Pics from Manhattan’s show can now be viewed in this post.
Mayhem also performed a super rare, intimate and extremely sold-out gig at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus last night, February 20. Full footage from the BK concert can be streamed after the gallery.
Mayhem, whose latest studio offering Esoteric Warfare dropped in 2014 through Season of Mist, will now return to Europe where they will join up with the likes of Dragged Into Sunlight and others for a slew of late winter / early spring tour dates (full info).
Fellow Mayhem label-mates Inquisition, who are on the road backing their 2016 malevolent masterpiece, Bloodshed Across the Empyrean Altar Beyond the Celestial Zenith, have a pair of festival appearances coming up; “Black Kvlt Fest” in Miami, FL in early March and “Dark Days of Stockholm” in Sweden in April. Check out the band’s official social page for more info.
Local shredders Black Anvil have no new dates lined-up, though we’re sure that will change in no time as the band have been eager to decimate stages in support of their impressive new full-length on Relapse Records, As Was. Stay tuned.
