Photos: Chevelle, Black Map & Dinosaur Pile-Up rocked Irving Plaza (7/11)
Hard rock favorites Chevelle are currently embarked on a massive summer jaunt, featuring mostly headlining dates along with a handful of festival and state fair appearances.
As part of their headlining gigs, Chevelle stormed New York City’s Irving Plaza on Tuesday (7/11) for a super sold-out concert, which featured opening support from UK alt-rockers Dinosaur Pile-Up, who got the crowd moving early in the evening. Direct support action came from San Francisco-based post-hardcore trio Black Map (ft. members of Dredg & Far) who furthered the show’s intensity with live renditions of new tunes from their fresh LP on eOne Music dubbed In Droves, among other melo-heavy grooves.
Chevelle‘s headlining set was a beefy one, with a setlist boasting a total of 18 tracks consisting of giant anthems such as “The Clincher,” “Vitamin R (Leading Us Along),” “I Get It,” “Hats Off to the Bull” and “Emotional Drought” (which the band hadn’t played live since 2010). The threesome also performed a handful of new tracks from their latest full-length on Epic Records titled The North Corridor, counting hits like “Young Wicked,” “Rivers,” “Joyride (Omen)” and “Door to Door Cannibals.” The guys ended their set with an encore made up of mega fan-favorite classics: “The Red,” “Forfeit” and “Send the Pain Below,” causing one last free-for-all clashing in the already invigorated pit.
Chevelle‘s U.S. tour continues through September with a free show in Syracuse at the ‘New York State Fair’ set to go down on August 24. Check out all upcoming tour dates here and scroll through exclusive photos from the NYC show below.
