10 Years announce new album (listen to a new song); going on tour (hitting NYC)

10 Years live at Irving Plaza in 2016…

Tennessee alternative metal gang 10 years have confirmed the release of their new album, (how to live) AS GHOSTS, the follow-up to 2015’s From Birth to Burial, for October 27 via Mascot Label Group. The new LP was produced by Grammy Award winner Nick Raskulinecz (Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Deftones) and features the lead single, “Novacaine,” which you can stream below.

10 Years vocalist Jesse Hasek states:

Six albums and a hundred songs in, I wondered if I’ve already written my best stuff. But at some point, you start to get real adult problems. You see people go from such optimism in their 20s to having life just beat them down later. I think we all kind of get desensitized and numb to life on some level. That’s what this song is about.

10 Years have also announced the return of original guitarist/drummer Brian Vodinh and guitarist Matt Wantland to the fold. Jesse Hasek adds:

It’s funny. I named our last record From Birth to Burial (2015) because I thought it was our final record. It just didn’t feel like 10 Years without Brian and Matt, and having them back is really a reunion of the core writing team. This new record actually feels like a real rebirth for the band.

Vodinh comments:

We’re bringing it back to the way it should be. It feels great to be back with these guys and we’re in such a good place musically and creatively.

It used to be that just Jesse and I would write the full song, and the other guys would add a little spice to it. This time, we’re starting the writing process as a full band. Sometimes it starts with a riff. Sometimes it starts with a vocal. Our formula is no formula, and it kind of works. And, we work together in a constructive and healthy environment now.

Additionally, 10 Years will embark on late summer and fall tour dates in the US, consisting of solo headlining shows, co-headlining gigs with Red, and additional concerts with Otherwise, Five Finger Death Punch and more. A show in New York City at Highline Ballroom with Red goes down on October 21 [TIX tba].
