Supporting their latest studio opus on Century Media titled Atoma, Swedish melo-death metal masters Dark Tranquillity are in the midst of a vast headlining North America journey that commenced earlier this month in FL and is scheduled to run until October. Support on the run is being provided by California party thrashers Warbringer and Canadian heavy hitters Striker.
New York City hosted a stop on the run this past Friday night, September 15, at the popular Gramercy Theatre. Dark Tranquillity pulled out the big guns, providing a huge 17-song performance featuring numerous fresh songs from Atoma like “Force of Hand,” “Forward Momentum,” “Encircled,” “Clearing Skies” and more. The quintet also dished out fan-favorites such as “The Mundane and the Magic,” “Monochromatic Stains,” “The Wonders at Your Feet,” “ThereIn” and others before closing out with an encore made up of “State of Trust,” “Through Smudged Lenses” and the great “Misery’s Crown.”
Wabringer got the crowd moving with songs from their new record, Woe to the Vanquished, counting hits like “Silhouettes,” “Remain Violent,” “Descending Blade,” and “When the Guns Fell Silent,” before concluding with “Combat Shock” from their debut LP War Without End. The powerful Striker launched the evening into a frenzy with anthems from their brand new self-titled effort, performing bangers like “Former Glory,” Pass Me By,” “Born to Lose,” along with select numbers from their records Armed to the Teeth and Stand in the Fire.
