UK extreme metal fiends Cradle of Filth are in the midst of the North American leg of their ‘Cryptoriana World Tour,’ which is in support of their twelfth studio album, Cryptoriana – The Seductiveness of Decay, on Nuclear Blast. Featuring support from Ukrainian metalcore squad Jinjer (on their first-ever stateside run) and New York City’s own Uncured, the ongoing campaign stormed the Big Apple for a sold-out concert at Irving Plaza on April 7.
Fans worried earlier that evening as Cradle of Filth had cancelled their Philly gig the day before (4/6) due to mastermind Dani Filth being ill. Literally a few hours before doors were scheduled to open, the band confirmed their appearance in Manhattan, with Dani having “a lot of meds to help him through.” With Mr. Filth seemingly in good spirits, CoF did not disappoint, sending a packed venue into chaos with vile classics “Gilded Cunt,” “Dusk and Her Embrace,” “Nymphetamine (Fix),” “Her Ghost in the Fog,” and more. The conjurers also played their latest singles “Heartbreak and Seance,” and “You Will Know the Lion by His Claw,” and, unfortunately due to time constraints, had to cut their set a bit short (though, fans seemed satisfied with the dose of filth they had received).
Jinjer, boasting the monstrous roar of vocalist Tatiana Shmailyuk, gained countless of new fans in NYC that night, as many went wild in the pit for rippers like “Who’s Gonna Be the One,” “I Speak Astronomy,” Just Another,” “No Hoard of Value,” and “Bad Water.” Local heroes Uncured provided a great start to the evening, shredding through their proggy tunes for the many in attendance.
The tour continues through the end of the month (dates). Scroll down below for full photo coverage from NYC.
