HEAVEN & HELL VIDEO PERFORMANCE RELEASED, FINAL FILMED LIVE PERFORMANCE FROM RONNIE JAMES DIO

Heaven & Hell’s live version of “Children of the Sea” off their Neon Nights: Live In Europe DVD has just been released. The performance was filmed in Germany on July 30, 2009 as part of the tour in support of their The Devil You K now studio album. Although nobody knew it at the time, it was to be Ronnie James Dio’s last filmed concert performance before his sad death in May 2010. Heaven & Hell were in fantastic form and played a blistering set that included tracks from the newly released album along with classics from their Black Sabbath days.

The bonus features on the DVD include 30th anniversary interviews with Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Vinny Appice, plus a tribute to RJD by the surviving members. Neon Nights: Live in Europe is out this week via Eagle Rock Entertainment.

VELVET REVOLVER LEAKS PERFORMANCE FROM UPCOMING ‘LIVE IN HOUSTON ’ DVD

Velvet Revolver has just leaked their performance of “Slither” which comes off their upcoming DVD, Live In Houston, hitting stores on November 16th. Filmed in 2005, the concert captures the band touring in support of their award winning debut album, Contraband. The full length tracks are intercut with brief interviews with the band members talking about how Velvet Revolver came to be. The setlist focuses on Contraband, but also includes cover versions of tracks by Guns ‘n’ Roses and Stone Temple Pilots highlighting the history of the group members. Live in Houston features the original Velvet Revolver line-up of vocalist Scott Weiland, lead guitarist Slash, bassist/vocalist Duff McKagan, drummer Matt Sorum, and rhythm guitarist Dave Kushner.

This week, Eagle Rock Entertainment will be releasing Rush: 2112 & Moving Pictures Classic Albums simultaneously released on DVD and Blu-Ray. The epic program carries us through the creation of the progressive rock milestones via brand new interviews, demonstrations, archive videos, and use of the original multi-track tapes. Besides new interviews with Rush’s bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson, and drummer Neil Peart, original producer Terry Brown, is also featured in the documentary, talking about the recording process of both records. Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins and acclaimed Rolling Stone journalist David Fricke are among the other guests included in the film. 112 minutes in total, this DVD digs even deeper with 50 minutes of bonus material that was not included in the recent VH1 Classic broadcast.

In the clip below, Lee, Lifeson, and Peart, hammer away at their very own prog-rock instrumental classic, “YYZ.” The song was originally included on 1981’s Moving Pictures album. The song was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Rock Instrumental category in 1982. The performance is included on Rush: 2112 & Moving Pictures Classic Albums.
