Fresh off the heels of the release of his new covers album Origins, Vol. 1, the Spaceman himself Ace Frehley recently kicked off his currently ongoing headlining tour at New York City’s PlayStation Theater on September 23, boasting support from Nashville rockers SIMO. The former Kiss guitarist performed songs from his previous solo albums; Ace Frehley, Frehley’s Comet, Trouble Walkin’, Anomaly and Space Invader, along with Origins, Vol. 1 covers from bands like Thin Lizzy and Willie Dixon, plus a special cover of Hello‘s “New York Groove.” Not surprisingly, Space Ace dished out a slew of Kiss hits as well, performing classic cuts such as “Parasite,” “Strange Ways,” “Detroit Rock City” and “Deuce.” Photographic coverage from the NYC show can now be viewed in this post.
Ace Frehley is currently wrapping up his fall U.S. run, and a second leg is presently being booked for early next year (stay tuned). New Yorkers can still catch Ace when he hits Clifton Park at Upstate Concert Hall on October 8th and Tarrytown at Tarrytown Music Hall on October 9th. Tickets are still available.
