Mexican extreme metal troublemakers Brujeria are currently balls deep into their October U.S. headlining tour, which features support from San Diego deathgrinders Cattle Decapitation and Tex-Mex punks Piñata Protest. The onslaught, being called the “Make America Hate Again Tour,” took a slice out of The Big Apple this past Monday night (10/3) at a nearly sold-out Gramercy Theatre. Full photo coverage from the night, including pics of special guest openers Billy Club Sandwich, continue below.
The ongoing massacre is in support of Brujeria‘s first full-length effort in over 15 years and first LP release on Nuclear Blast titled Pocho Aztlan, which was unleashed last month. The band have been playing new songs from the fresh LP on their current run, counting hits such as “Ángel de la frontera” (Frontier’s Angel), “No aceptan imitaciones” (Don’t Go Accepting Imitations) and “Satongo.” Though tracks from their past LPs Matando Güeros, Raza Odiada and Brujerizmo dominated their setlist. Brujeria leadman Juan Brujo, who (not surprisingly) wasn’t allowed to bring his signature machete into the venue, helped end the night with a surprise rendition of their popular “Marijuana” track (a parody of the pop hit “Macarena”).
The tour is currently still in the east and will be headed midwest soon, before concluding later this month in California. Check out all remaining tour dates after the gallery.
