As previously posted, bestial metallers Gwar will be in NYC tomorrow (10/29) for a free (RVSP is closed though, aka sold out!) show at Brooklyn’s House of Vans, as part of the venue’s Hallo-Wolfbat series. The concert will feature support from Darkest Hour and locals Mutoid Man (who also play Saint Vitus on 11/26 w/ ENDON & Summoner – tix).
Prior to their BK performance, Gwar will infest Rough Trade in Willy B. for an exclusive signing event for their latest “Let There Be GWAR” book. The affair starts at 2pm and will boast appearances by drummer Jizmak Da Gusha, manager Sleazy P Martini, backing vocalist Sawborg Destructo and veteran Gwar member and book author Bob Gorman aka Bonesnapper. Purchase of “Let There Be GWAR” at Rough Trade will grant you access to the event, and the record store states; “if you already own the book, we’ll also give a wristband for purchase of any Gwar product from Rough Trade.” Go here for more info.
Additionally, Gwar recently launched a Kickstarter for a new comic book series (their first-ever, crazy, no?) dubbed “Gwar: Orgasmageddon,” being written by Matt Miner (“Critical Hit”) and drawn, colored, lettered and edited by Jonathan Brandon Sawyer (“Welcome Back”), Marissa Louise (“RoboCop”), Taylor Esposito (“Batman Eternal”) and Brendan Wright (“Archie vs. Predator”), respectively. As of this posting, the campaign has raised $27,574 of their $39,000 goal, with 374 backers and 28 more days to go (nice job!).
Also, Gwar have scheduled a live appearance on “The Howard Stern Wrap Up Show” in NYC for this Monday (Halloween). The band will perform two songs and fans can tune in via the “Howard Stern Channel” on SiriusXM at 11am EST.
