Iconic prog-rocker Neal Morse, plus his a-list band consisting of drummer Mike Portnoy, bassist Randy George, keyboardist Bill Hubauer and guitarist Eric Gillette, released their renowned double-disc concept record, The Similitude of a Dream, last November via Radiant Records. Then earlier this year, The Neal Morse Band dropped a DVD/Blu-Ray effort titled Morsefest 2015: “?” and “Sola Scriptura” LIVE!, which features footage from said acclaimed concert event in Nashville, TN.

In support of both aforementioned releases, Neal Morse and company toured throughout Europe and the UK in March and April, invading numerous international markets. Following a stint at ‘Rites of Spring Festival’ in Gettysburg, PA in May, the band took a short break before once again hitting the pavement for summer gigs in the US. The ongoing stateside cruise descended upon New York City at the Gramercy Theatre this past Tuesday, August 22, for a two-hour long event, featuring a full performance of The Similitude of a Dream.

A full house enjoyed all 23 tracks from the 2016 LP, including favorites such as “City of Destruction,” “The Ways of a Fool,” “The Man in the Iron Cage,” “The Road Called Home” and “Broken Sky/Long Day (Reprise).” As an encore, the gang performed “The Call” off of 2015’s The Grand Experiment.

The tour continues through the east coast with just a handful of stops left. At the start of September, the two-day ‘Morsefest 2017’ takes place in Cross Plains, TN (get more info and all upcoming dates here).
