Supporting their brand spankin’ new and fourteenth full-length monstrosity on Metal Blade Records titled Red Before Black, the godfathers of gore fueled death metal Cannibal Corpse are currently wrapping up a major crusade through North America that ignited in early November with help from trek support acts Power Trip and Gatecreeper.
Having moved from Stage 48 to Irving Plaza (due to a fire), New York City fans packed the east village venue on November 29th to witness a devastating 17-song set from Cannibal Corpse, who belched brutal and callous labeled tracks likes “Scourge of Iron,” “Devoured by Vermin,” “A Skull Full of Maggots,” “I Cum Blood,” “Stripped, Raped and Strangled” and “Hammer Smashed Face,” along with fresh rippers such as “Code of the Slashers,” “Only One Will Die,” “Scavenger Consuming Death,” and more.
The high-flying Power Trip performed ragers from their very well received new LP on Southern Lord, Nightmare Logic, causing a frenzy in the pit with “Soul Sacrifice,” “Executioner’s Tax (Swing of the Axe),” “Crucifixation,” “Firing Squad,” among other numbers from their previous releases.
Gloomy death bringers Gatecreeper opened the evening with a handful of songs from their 2016 debut on Relapse Records dubbed Sonoran Depravation, spewing malignant tracks like “Desperation,” “Craving Flesh,” “Patriarchal Grip,” “Rotting As One,” and more, plus a full performance of their 2017 2-song EP Sweltering Madness.
