Supporting their 2017 debut full-length record on InsideOut Music titled Psychotic Symphony, progressive metal supergroup Sons of Apollo – featuring former Dream Theater members Mike Portnoy and Derek Sherinian, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (ex-Guns N’ Roses), Billy Sheehan (The Winery Dogs, Mr. Big) and Jeff Scott Soto (ex-Journey, ex-Yngwie Malmsteen’s Rising Force) – recently set out on a 25-city North American outing.
The band performed fresh cuts “God of the Sun,” “Signs of the Time,” “Divine Addiction,” “Labyrinth,” “Lost in Oblivion,” “Alive,” and more at their NYC gig at PlayStation Theater on May 18th. Additional highlights from the evening in Times Square include stellar solos from Sheehan and Sherinian, plus the band’s interpretation of hits from Dream Theater, Queen, Henry Mancini, and Van Halen. Book-ended by intro / outro tracks from Halen and Roy Rogers, the rock vets shredded for nearly two-hours, performing a total of 16 songs.
Check out photo coverage from the evening in the gallery below. Sons of Apollo will soon head overseas for stints at France’s ‘Hellfest,’ Belgium’s ‘Graspop Metal Meeting,’ Germany’s ‘Wacken Open Air,’ and much more (see all dates).
Coming soon to PlayStation Theater:
