In support of their ninth studio full-length release, Ømni, out now on earMUSIC, Brazilian power/progressive metal greats Angra are embarked on a massive 2018 world tour, which kicked off with a March through June cruise through Europe, UK and South America.

Angra are attacking North America at the moment, launching shenanigans at ‘ProgPower USA’ a few weeks back. Led by founding member Rafael Bittencourt (guitar) and rounded out by Felipe Andreoli (bass), Fabio Lione (vocals), Marcelo Barbosa (guitar) and Bruno Valverde (drums), the band made their triumphant return to New York City last Wednesday (Sept. 12th) for a remarkable evening at Gramercy Theatre.

Angra ripped through a total of 16 songs during their Manhattan conquest, jump starting with “Newborn,” and leading into new song “Travelers,” before pounding through with “Angels and Demons,” “Nothing to Say,” another new track, “Insania,” and “Acid Rain.” Bruno bashed on his kit for a bit before the band flooded the stage once again for more fresh tunes like “Black Widow’s Web” and “The Bottom of My Soul” (which featured Rafael on vocals), plus more like closers “Rebirth” and “Nova Era.”

We’ve got a ton of shots from Angra‘s headlining set in NYC, including pics of Roselle, NJ’s Cypher Seer, who kicked off the evening. Scroll down for the full gallery. Get all upcoming tour dates HERE.
