Pics: Stone Sour live at Jones Beach (9/8)

Hard rock greats Stone Sour recently set out on a summer through fall tour of North America as part of legendary Ozzy Osbourne‘s ‘No More Tours 2.’

The expedition came through Long Island for a huge showing at the Jones Beach Theater. Stone Sour opened the soggy evening, kicking off their set with “Taipei Person / Allah Tea” from their latest release on Roadrunner Records, Hydrograd. With high tides flooding the Wantagh amphitheater, Stone Sour pushed on, illuminating the stage with a wall of colorful lights and sparktacular cold pyro. “Do Me a Favor,” “Absolute Zero,” and “Tired” from House of Gold & Bones (part 1 and 2) had the crowd on their feet and chanting for more. Super favorites “Bother” and “Through Glass” also made it onto the band’s set, along with fresh songs “Knievel Has Landed,” “Whiplash Pants,” “Song #3,” and “Fabuless.”

The Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne, closed out the night, which had become much dryer by that point, launching LI into madness with classics “Bark at the Moon,” “Mr. Crowley,” and “I Don’t Know.” Rounded out by guitarist Zakk Wylde, bassist Rob “Blasko” Nicholson, keyboardist / rhythm guitarist Adam Wakeman and drummer Tommy Clufetos, the band went on to treat the crowd to Black Sabbath gems like “Fairies Wear Boots,” “War Pigs,” and set closer “Paranoid.” Additional highlights from Ozzy‘s insanely flashy set include his performance of “No More Tears,” “Crazy Train,” “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” a “Miracle Man / Crazy Babies / Desire / Perry Mason” medley, and sick solos from both Wylde and Clufetos.

Unfortunately, and as you might have heard, Osbourne has been forced to cancel the remainder of his North American farewell tour so he can further treat an infection on his hand. Get better, Ozzy!

Stone Sour are currently taking a short break from the road and will soon ship out to Europe for shows in Russia and the Ukraine, which they’ll follow with an Australian stop and a concert in Anaheim, CA. See all upcoming dates HERE. Scroll down for exclusive shots form their set in NY.
