High on Fire announce Electric Messiah Tour 2019

High on Fire live at Webster Hall in 2016 by Johnny Perilla

In continued support of their new LP, Electric Messiah, released earlier this year, stoner metal greats High on Fire have confirmed a headlining tour for early 2019. The run will mark the band’s return to the stage, following leadman Matt Pike‘s partial toe amputation earlier this fall.

The trek happens in January and February and includes a stop at Brooklyn’s Warsaw on Jan. 16 [TIX]. The day before the NYC show (1/15), the band plays Philly’s Theatre of The Living Arts. Additionally, High on Fire will be performing at Psycho Las Vegas 2019, which takes place from August 16-18. All dates can be viewed below.

As mentioned, the band are touring in support of their newest record, Electric Messiah. Speaking on the inspiration for the album’s title-track (which you can check out after the dates), Pike states:

I had a dream about Lemmy. When Lemmy was still alive I always got compared to Lemmy, so I had this dream where he got pissed at me.

He gave me a bunch of shit, basically, and was hazing me. Not that he didn’t approve of me, but like I was being hazed. The song is me telling the world that I could never fill Lemmy’s shoes because Lemmy’s Lemmy. I wanted to pay homage to him in a great way. And it turned out to be such a good title that the guys said we should call the album ‘Electric Messiah.’
