Light The Torch (ex-Killswitch Engage, ex-All Shall Perish, Bleeding Through), Mark Morton (Lamb of God) and Moon Tooth recently concluded a brief coast-to-coast U.S. trip, which included a pair of Canadian shows. The trek took on New York City’s Gramercy Theatre on March 19th.
Light The Torch‘s Howard Jones had to miss the tour’s Boston date on March 18th, due to being hospitalized for the flu and a sinus infection. Miraculously, he was in full-form in NYC the following day, helping kick off the band’s set with track “The Bitter End,” the first of many songs off their newest LP, Revival, they would go on to perform that night. The gang also dished out “Embracing the Torture” off The Beauty of Destruction, “Consume the Damned” from They Bleed Red and more during their 11-song show closer.
Mark Morton, whose live band for this tour featured vocalist Mark Morales (Sons of Texas), guitarist Doc Coyle (Bad Wolves), bassist Nick Villarreal (Sons of Texas) and drummer Arturo “Art” Cruz (Prong), co-headlined the evening, performing new songs off the project’s debut album, Anesthetic, like “Back From the Dead,” “Sworn Apart,” “Reveal” (w/ Naeemah Z. Maddox) and closer “Cross Off.” Manhattan got a huge taste of the new effort, which itself features an array of guest appearances, including Chester Bennington, Jacoby Shaddix, Myles Kennedy, Randy Blythe, and many more.
Long Island’s own Moon Tooth kicked off the gathering, performing a hefty set consisting of plenty of heavy rippers from their first record, Chromaparagon, such as “Belt Squeezer,” “Queen Wolf,” “Igneous,” and “Offered Blood.” The band also played new tunes “Trust,” “Omega Days,” “Thumb Spike,” “Thorns,” “Awe at All Angles” and “Raise a Light (Epilogue)” from their just released sophomore album, Crux, which Mark Morton helped produce.
