The Hu unleashing debut LP, announce North American crusade

Mongolian folk metal/rock tribe The Hu have set September 13th as the official street date for their debut full-length album, The Gereg, through Eleven Seven Music. Last year, the band released singles “Yuve Yuve Yu” and “Wolf Totem,” and just last month the foursome dropped new track “Shoog Shoog” (stream all three songs below).

“The four-piece band combines traditional Mongolian instruments with modern American hard rock to create their own style of music they call “hunnu rock,” which derives from “HU,” the Mongolian root word for human beings,” reads a press release. “This unique sound blends heavy rock elements with traditional Mongolian guttural throat singing, accentuated by lyrics reflecting old Mongolian war cries and poetry.”

Regarding signing to Elven Seven, the The Hu say: “We couldn’t be more excited to join the amazing team at E7M. The passion they have for The HU can be felt from New York to Mongolia and we’re excited to do great things together.”

E7M’s COO Steve Kline adds: “Eleven Seven is continuously searching for unique and talented artists. The Hu’s mix of traditional Mongolian instrumentation and original brand of rock is unlike any other band. From first listen, we were immediately blown away. The Hu are about to take the world by storm, and we could not be more excited to welcome them to the Eleven Seven family!”

Supporting The Gereg‘s release, The Hu will set sail on an extensive North American jaunt starting in September and running through December. The staggering 50+ date trip arrives in New York for the following shows: Brooklyn at Warsaw on September 24 [TIX], and Manhattan at Bowery Ballroom on November 17 [TIX]. There’s also a gig going down in Asbury Park, NJ at The Stone Pony on September 27 [TIX].
