Nisse Karlén, founding member of Swedish melodic black/death metal band Sacramentum, has died at the age of 50. The band confirmed the news through their official social media channels, posting the following statement:
“With deep sorrow, we share the heartbreaking news that our dear friend, band member, and one of the founders of Sacramentum, Nisse Karlén, has passed away. He chose to leave this world due to struggles with mental health.
At this time, we kindly ask for privacy for his family, friends, and bandmates as we come to terms with this loss.
Thank you for everything, Nisse. You will always be with us.

Sacramentum (current and former members)
Since Sacramentum’s formation in 1992, Karlén contributed guitar, bass, and vocals, appearing on three full-length albums as well as a demo, EP, split release, and a box set. He also collaborated with Lord Belial and Tumulus during his career.
