Anthrax have announced an intimate New York City show celebrating the grand reopening of Saint Vitus Bar.
The thrash metal legends will take over the newly relocated Saint Vitus on September 4. They also plan to film the entire concert.
The venue is set to reopen at its new home at 428 Troutman Street in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, marking a new chapter for Saint Vitus following the closure of its longtime Greenpoint location.
Saint Vitus confirmed that Anthrax will have the distinction of being the first band to headline the new venue, saying: “The inaugural show is finally revealed: ANTHRAX will be the first band to headline our stage for the return of Saint Vitus!”
The venue also noted that this won’t be Anthrax’s first time playing Saint Vitus. The band performed two intimate shows at the original location in 2016.
“Anthrax previously played our original location for two intimate shows in 2016, and we’re honored to welcome them back for another historic moment in metal,” Saint Vitus added.
Anthrax said of the upcoming show: “We’re honored to be performing at the grand re-opening of the legendary Saint Vitus Bar on September 4th.”
They added: “We’ll be filming the entire show, capturing every intimate moment. Bring the mosh and live forever with us in the histories of New York Thrash.”
Tickets for the September 4 show go on sale tomorrow, Friday, August 28.
