Finnish melodic death metal supergroup Bodom After Midnight – consisting of lead guitarist and lead vocalist Alexi Laiho (ex-Children of Bodom), rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Daniel Freyberg (ex-Children of Bodom), bassist and backing vocalist Mitja Toivonen (ex-Santa Cruz) and drummer Waltteri Väyrynen (Paradise Lost) – played their first-ever live gig last night, October 23rd at the Rytmikorjaamo in Seinäjoki, Finland.
Bodom After Midnight – named after the second track from Children of Bodom’s album ‘Follow the Reaper’ – came to fruition following the breakup of CoB in late 2019, officially solidifying their band status earlier this year. The group’s live lineup includes keyboardist and backing vocalist Lauri Salomaa and keyboardist Vili Itäpelto. The act was set to make their concert debut this past summer with performances at Finland’s ‘Tuska Festival’ and ‘John Smith Rock Festival’ along with a stint at Germany’s ‘Summer Breeze Festival,’ but, of course, those appearances were cancelled due to COVID-19.
At the Rytmikorjaamo in Seinäjoki last night, Bodom After Midnight performed a 17-song setlist consisting entirely of Children of Bodom hits, including the likes of “Needled 24/7,” “Silent Night, Bodom Night,” “Sixpounder,” “Angels Don’t Kill,” “Hatebreeder,” “Everytime I Die” “Hate Crew Deathroll” and “In Your Face.”

The group return to the Tavastia tomorrow (10/25) and will perform at ‘Radio Rock Risteily XXX’ (also in Helsinki) in March — stay tuned for more.
