Delain band promo 2025

Delain announce Diana Leah’s departure, reveal new collaborative direction

Dutch symphonic metal band Delain have announced the departure of vocalist Diana Leah, who has decided to step away from the group to pursue other interests. Rather than recruit a permanent replacement, the band will move forward with a collaborative approach featuring multiple guest vocalists and musicians.

In a statement shared on social media, Delain expressed their gratitude to Leah for her time with the band and wished her well.

“Diana has decided to step away from Delain after many years with the band to pursue other things in life,” the group stated. “While her departure naturally brings a sense of sadness, we look back with great gratitude on everything they have shared together.”

The band added that they fully respect her decision and that the door remains open for a future return.

Moving forward, Delain will continue with founding keyboardist and songwriter Martijn Westerholt, alongside Ludovico Cioffi, Ronald Landa and Sander Zoer, who will form the band’s core lineup.

Instead of seeking a direct replacement for Leah, Delain plan to feature a rotating collection of artists on their upcoming album and during live performances.

“Different voices, personalities and musical perspectives can now come together around the band, allowing each song and performance to take on its own character,” the group explained.

The upcoming album will feature contributions from former Nightwish bassist and vocalist Marko Hietala and Within Temptation singer Sharon den Adel, both of whom appeared on Delain’s 2006 debut album, Lucidity.

The announcement comes as Delain mark the 20th anniversary of Lucidity, which similarly featured contributions from several guest musicians.

“Delain has always been about bringing different musical worlds together,” Westerholt commented. “Twenty years ago, Lucidity started with that idea. Now, twenty years later, we are taking it further than ever before.”

According to the band, the collaborative format will extend to their live performances, with different artists joining Delain onstage for select songs and shows.

Delain also confirmed that the first single from their upcoming album will arrive October 20 through Napalm Records. Additional details regarding the album, including its title and release date, have not yet been announced.
