German thrash veterans Exumer have announced their sixth studio album, Death Mask Messiah, arriving August 28 via Metal Blade Records.
The band’s first new studio release in seven years, Death Mask Messiah features 11 new tracks that continue Exumer’s signature aggressive thrash sound while pushing toward a more direct and brutal approach. The album was produced by Dominic Paraskevopoulos (Kreator, Caliban) and mixed and mastered by Arthur Rizk (Soulfly, King Diamond).
The band has also shared the album’s title track and accompanying music video, with vocalist and co-founder Mem V. Stein describing “Death Mask Messiah” as a representation of the album’s overall direction.
“We deliberately chose this track as the first single, as the sonic assault of its main riff and the lyrical concept represent the totality of our intentions for this album,” Stein said.
Recorded between December 2025 and January 2026, the album marks the first Exumer release featuring drummer Jerome Reil and bassist Alex Voss, who join longtime members Mem V. Stein and Ray Mensh, along with guitarist Marc B.
Conceptually, Death Mask Messiah explores themes including misinformation, political division, manipulation, and the abuse of power. The album also features a guest appearance from Nasty Savage vocalist Nasty Ronnie on Exumer’s cover of “Unchained Angel,” originally released by his band.
Death Mask Messiah will be available August 28 on CD, digital formats, and vinyl via Metal Blade Records.
