Zack Roach, former guitarist of Senses Fail, has died unexpectedly, according to a statement shared two days ago by Shaila Roach, the mother of his children.
“It is with an extremely heavy heart that I have to let our friends and family know this—Zack Roach passed away unexpectedly yesterday,” the statement read. “I have a lot to say, but this is about what I can muster in this moment. Please hold he and our boys in your thoughts.”
A Meal Train page organized in support of the family notes that Roach was “a guitarist, teacher, mentor, and friend,” and a father to his two sons, Cain and Ramsey. The page also outlines efforts to support the household, including meal donations and assistance for Shaila Roach and her mother, Bobbie, as the family navigates the loss.
Roach was known within the post-hardcore and alternative rock scene for his time performing with Senses Fail during a transitional period in the band’s lineup. He also remained active in other musical projects, including Spirit of the Stairs and Team Tremolo.
Senses Fail frontman James “Buddy” Nielsen also paid tribute to Roach on social media, remembering him as “one of the most talented and kindest people I have ever known.” He added that Roach was also “one of the most hilarious people,” sharing condolences to his children and Shaila Roach, while reflecting on their friendship and asking fans to keep the family in their thoughts.
