Ice Nine Kills have announced a new holiday EP titled A Very Vicious Christmas, set for digital release November 9 via Fearless Records.
The eight-track collection features the band’s takes on Christmas classics originally recorded for Halloween Horror Nights’ “Terror Tram starring Art the Clown” at Universal Studios Hollywood. The EP was revealed during the band’s annual Silver Scream Con in Worcester, Massachusetts.
“The Ice Nine Kills A Very Vicious Christmas EP is our early holiday gift to you all,” frontman Spencer Charnas said. “When tasked with creating a musical accompaniment for Art the Clown’s assault on the Terror Tram, we immediately understood the assignment. Art loves Christmas. Who better to distastefully dismember some Christmas classics than Ice Nine Kills?”
Charnas continued, “With lyrics like ‘oh what fun it is to die in a one hearse open slay’ and ‘he’ll grind your limbs like sausage meat,’ we weren’t sure we’d find a children’s choir whose parents would approve, but thankfully the spirit of the season prevailed.”
“We’re forever honored that Terrifier writer/director Damien Leone, producer Phil Falcone and team invited us into their sandbox of bloodshed,” he added. “Halloween Horror Nights is one of our favorite destinations, and this year it’s sounding even more festive.”
The project continues Ice Nine Kills’ connection with the Terrifier franchise. The band previously released “A Work of Art” as an official song from Terrifier 3, with Art the Clown actor David Howard Thornton appearing in its music video.
Ice Nine Kills will also take part in UNWRAPPED: An Acoustic Holiday this December, a six-date run featuring acoustic performances from a rotating lineup that includes Smith & Myers of Shinedown, Zakk Wylde, The Funeral Portrait, The Warning, Ayron Jones, Sublime and more.
