Lustmord Lombardo, the collaboration between dark ambient artist Lustmord and drummer Dave Lombardo, have shared a new track titled “An Eternal Presence Part II: Relentless.”
The song is the latest preview of the duo’s forthcoming album, The Pulse of Atoms, which arrives October 2 via Ipecac Recordings.
“An Eternal Presence Part II: Relentless” follows the previously released “Paleomagnetic Resonance” and “The Desolate Shore Part I: Submergence.”
“One thing about an album like this is that you can’t really point it out as being part of any specific genre or hopefully any specific period,” Lustmord said of the project. “It’s trying to create something that has its own sound, not tapping into whatever musical language or history you’re familiar with.”
Rather than approaching The Pulse of Atoms through traditional songwriting, Lustmord constructed evolving layers of sound that left space for Lombardo to add percussion and synthesizers. Lustmord later handled the album’s editing, arrangement, mixing and mastering.
The two musicians originally met backstage at a Fantômas show after being introduced by Buzz Osborne. Nearly two decades later, they came together as Lustmord Lombardo for The Pulse of Atoms.
