Spokane, Washington-based psychedelic stoner metal act Merlock are gearing up for the release of their second album, ‘Onward Strides Colossus,’ due out on February 24th. Leading up to the LP’s release, the band have dropped their new video single “Where No One Goes,” which you can check out below.
The band’s guitarist and vocalist Taylor D. Waring comments on the new single, ““Where No One Goes” starts out in this bleak, hellish, ethereal, self-created place — not this fiery hellscape, but something more like what we see in Paradise Lost, which is quoted in the chorus. But the track refuses to stay there. Sonically and lyrically, it seeks something luminous in the darkness, it seeks a path forward. When I wrote this track, I was coming out of this really dark, difficult place; writing it was, in a way, a path forward for myself. It ended up being a path forward for the band, too, since it was also a big shift in songwriting for us. It was the first track we wrote for Onward Strides Colossus and definitely set the tone sonically.”
