Metallica foundation donates $100,000 to Venezuela earthquake relief

Metallica’s All Within My Hands foundation has pledged $100,000 to support earthquake relief efforts in Venezuela through its longtime partner, Direct Relief.

The donation comes in response to the recent earthquakes that have devastated parts of the country. According to AWMH, United Nations reports estimate that up to 6.8 million people may be affected, including those displaced or left without reliable access to electricity and clean water. The foundation also noted that more than 68,000 people were reported missing within three days of the disaster, while the official death toll has surpassed 2,000.

Direct Relief is preparing and distributing medical aid commonly needed following major earthquakes, including first-aid supplies, hygiene kits for displaced families, medications to treat acute injuries, and medicines for people whose ongoing care has been disrupted.

“AWMH’s $100,000 grant will support Direct Relief as the organization continues to respond to requests in the region as they become known,” the foundation said in its announcement.
