Nightwish have announced that they have parted ways with longtime vocalist Floor Jansen, bringing her 14-year tenure with the Finnish symphonic metal band to an end.
The band confirmed the departure in a statement, describing the decision as mutual.
“After careful consideration, we have, in mutual agreement, decided to part ways. This decision is necessary and important to us and our future ambitions,” Nightwish stated. “Thus, we will now pursue those goals in our own separate ways. We wish each other nothing but the very best on our respective artistic journeys.”
The group also reflected on the significance of the split, adding, “For you, dear listener, and indeed for us, this marks the end of a truly great voyage.”
Jansen first joined Nightwish as a touring vocalist in 2012 before officially becoming a member in 2013. During her time with the group, she appeared on three studio albums: Endless Forms Most Beautiful (2015), Human. :II: Nature. (2020), and Yesterwynde (2024).
Jansen also addressed the departure in a statement of her own, acknowledging that the decision was difficult while expressing optimism about her future.
“Endings create new beginnings, and even though it was a hard decision to make, I believe there is a bright musical journey ahead of me,” she wrote. “I invite you to follow along on this path, as you were with me in all the great years before.”
She added that her solo career will now receive her full attention, including her upcoming album Hytress, scheduled for release in 2027, and its accompanying tour.
“Thank you for your support through the rollercoasters of life,” Jansen continued. “Hope to meet you on the road again in a near and happy future.”
Nightwish, meanwhile, confirmed that the band will continue and plans to enter the studio in 2027 to record a new album.
“Nightwish will continue. We will move forward and enter the studio in 2027 to record a new album,” the band stated.
The group has not announced a replacement vocalist or provided further details about its future lineup.
