Ukrainian progressive rock band Stoned Jesus have shared a full stream of their new album Songs to Moon ahead of its October 16 release via Season of Mist.
Songs to Moon marks the second installment in the band’s planned album trilogy, following 2025’s Songs to Sun. While its predecessor emphasized heavy riffs and prominent choruses, the new record takes a darker, more atmospheric and introspective approach.
“We started The Songs trilogy last year with Songs to Sun, which is a loud and heavy album that’s big on choruses and meaty riffs,” frontman Igor Sydorenko explained. “While still heavy and catchy, Songs to Moon follows a similar trajectory to Led Zeppelin III, Opeth’s Damnation or Jar of Flies by Alice In Chains.”
He added, “The songs are recognizably Stoned Jesus, but they are bolder, more haunting and introspective than anything we’ve done before.”
The album opens with the heavy, post-metal-influenced “Under the Skin” before moving through tracks such as “Velvet,” “Jackal” and the instrumental “Syzygy,” which incorporates melodies from each installment of the trilogy. Later songs, including “Window in My Room” and “One More Empty Day,” explore a quieter side of the band’s sound through acoustic arrangements and restrained vocals.
Songs to Moon was recorded at Goblin Sound Studio in Cologne, Germany, with production handled by Sydorenko and mixing and mastering by Karl Daniel Lidén at Studio Tri-Lamb in Sweden. The album artwork was created by Vadym “Karaska” Karasiov.
The record follows a busy period for Stoned Jesus, including a European co-headlining tour with Wheel and an appearance at Hellfest. The band will also perform at WeStill Fest in Vallet, France, on October 30.
