Sumerian Records has announced Sending Hearts To All My Dearies – A Tribute To The Smashing Pumpkins, a new compilation honoring the influential alternative rock band’s catalog. The collection will be released digitally on August 14, with a deluxe 2xLP vinyl edition following on October 16.
Personally titled and approved by Billy Corgan, the tribute album takes its name from a lyric in “Mayonaise” and features artists from across the alternative, rock, metal, and electronic worlds reinterpreting songs spanning The Smashing Pumpkins’ career.
Leading the announcement is Tame Impala’s cover of “Hummer,” originally featured on The Smashing Pumpkins’ 1993 album Siamese Dream. Speaking on the track, Kevin Parker noted that Siamese Dream was “the soundtrack to my high school years” and described “Hummer” as the song that brings him back to that period most vividly.
The compilation also includes contributions from artists such as Yonaka, The Midnight, Carpenter Brut, Meg Myers, Palaye Royale, Between the Buried and Me, Alice Glass, Nita Strauss, and others, covering songs including “Today,” “Tonight, Tonight,” “Cherub Rock,” “1979,” “Bullet With Butterfly Wings,” “Jellybelly,” “Drown,” “Thirty-Three,” and “Ava Adore.”
