Finnish metal gathering Tuska Festival 2021 has been officially cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic. A return has been planned for next year, specifically July 1st through 3rd, 2022 in Suvilahti, Helsinki.
This year’s fest was set to feature performances by Korn, Gojira, Deftones, Jinjer, Eluveitie, Korpiklaani, Devin Townsend, High on Fire, Symphony X, and more.
A full statement from organizers reads as follows:
With even heavier and blacker hearts than usual, we have to announce that Tuska 2021 will be cancelled due to Covid-19. Tuska is a festival that cannot be built overnight. The production timespan is measured in months, even years. For Tuska’s visitors, we want to offer the best possible festival experience from all perspectives: from technical to musical, food to additional programme etc. Within the current time frame, we cannot deliver a festival that would meet our and the audience’s expectations. We are vexed. We really would’ve wanted to whip the hair through the air with you in the summer.
However, there’s light at the end of the catacomb. The planning of 2022 is already underway and the artists are craving to tour so we believe the line-up will turn out to be very interesting. The next Tuska Festival will be held in Suvilahti, Helsinki on July 1–3, 2022. 3-day tickets are available at Tiketti, Ticketmaster, Lippu.fi and Festicket: https://www.tuska.fi/en/tickets. Tickets purchased for Tuska 2020 and 2021 are valid as such for Tuska 2022. The best way to support Tuska is to keep your festival ticket and use it in summer 2022. Tickets can also be returned to the point of sale by August 31st, 2021. Ticket agencies will contact all ticket holders via e-mail as soon as possible. It is what it is, but we’ll move forward with a raised fist – hope you are with us! ✊
