Twin Temple announce new album ‘Doomed Lovers’, share title track

Los Angeles-based duo Twin Temple have announced their third studio album, Doomed Lovers, arriving October 9 via their own Pentagrammaton Records.

The band has also shared the album’s title track, available now across digital platforms. The announcement comes following a week of controversy surrounding Twin Temple’s Satanic imagery, after the band was removed from upcoming shows by country artist Charley Crockett. Following the cancellation, Jack White publicly invited Twin Temple to join him as support for his upcoming Hollywood performance.

Alongside their previously announced dates supporting Danzig, Twin Temple have added a series of headlining shows this fall.

Discussing the album’s title track, Alexandra and Zachary James explained: “This is the philosophical centerpiece of the album – a theatrical and confessional take on all or nothing love, the dark side of devotion and centuries old mythic literary Romantic themes.”

The band describes Doomed Lovers as their most ambitious and personal release to date, expanding their signature blend of early rock ‘n’ roll, vintage pop, and dark theatrical themes with lush orchestral arrangements performed by a 37-piece orchestra.

Produced by GRAMMY Award-winning producer Shooter Jennings at Sunset Sound’s Studio 3 in Hollywood, the album continues Twin Temple’s commitment to classic analog recording while incorporating influences from legendary orchestral pop productions by artists including Roy Orbison, The Ronettes, and The Shangri-Las.

“We poured everything into this new record that we made with Shooter,” Twin Temple shared. “We wanted to push ourselves creatively and expand the production further than we have before.”

The duo also revealed that the album was created during an especially difficult period in their lives, with the recording process becoming a source of healing.

“This album was made during one of the darkest periods of our lives. We had been struggling with grief, health issues, addiction, and depression. But day by day, going into Sunset Sound, making music with incredible people who believed in us, and being surrounded by that creativity slowly brought us back to life.”
