Backbiter have announced that several members are stepping away from the band, prompting the cancellation of their upcoming shows in Detroit and Chicago.
The group shared the news in a statement on social media, explaining that the departures are amicable and that the members involved have decided to pursue other endeavors.
“To be completely transparent, a few members have decided to take a step back from Backbiter to focus on other endeavours,” the band wrote. “It’s all love between everyone; everything is mutual.”
As a result, Backbiter have canceled their scheduled performances in Detroit and Chicago on October 24 and 25, respectively.
The band also confirmed that they will take the remainder of 2026 off to regroup and make changes to their lineup, with plans to return in 2027.
“We will be taking the rest of this year to decompress and restructure, and we have big plans to come back hot next year,” the group continued.
Backbiter concluded by thanking fans for their continued support.
The band did not identify which members are stepping away or announce any replacements.
