Clutch have returned with a new single, “The Drifter Returns,” accompanied by an official lyric video.
Released through the band’s own Weathermaker Music label, the track marks Clutch’s first new studio music since their 2022 album, Sunrise on Slaughter Beach.
“The Drifter Returns” also serves as the first preview of Clutch’s forthcoming 14th studio album. Details surrounding the record, including its title and release date, have yet to be announced.
The new material reunites Clutch with producer Gene “Machine” Freeman, who previously worked with the band on Blast Tyrant, Earth Rocker and Psychic Warfare. Clutch co-produced “The Drifter Returns” alongside Machine.
The band kept their announcement for the song brief, simply declaring: “The drifter has returned.”
Clutch had already been performing “The Drifter Returns” during select live shows before officially releasing the studio version.
