Dawn of Demise have shared a video for their new single “Ominous,” the latest track off the Danish death metal band’s upcoming album, Feed My Absurdity.
Due out October 9 through Unique Leader Records, the album will be Dawn of Demise’s sixth full-length and their first in nearly seven years. “Ominous” finds the band moving at a somewhat faster pace than usual, at least by their standards.
“We are known as a heavy and often ‘slower’ death metal band. ‘Ominous’ is us doing something a bit different,” bassist Bjørn Jensen explains. “It might not be super fast when looking at bands nowadays, but for Dawn Of Demise, it most certainly is.”
Feed My Absurdity was produced by Tue Madsen and features 10 new tracks, including the previously released title track. The record also marks the return of original guitarist Jakob Haagen Nyholm, who played on the band’s early demo and debut album.
According to Jensen, Nyholm’s return helped breathe some new life into the band after their lengthy gap between records.
“Having not released anything for almost 7 years, the band was more than ready to get the ball rolling again,” he says. “Jakob Nyholm (guitar) has returned to the fold. He was in the band at the very beginning playing on the demo and on the first album. His return to Dawn Of Demise has truly revitalized the passion for creating some heavy death metal.”
Jensen says longtime fans should still feel right at home with Feed My Absurdity, describing the record as the band’s familiar mix of heavy, groovy U.S.-style death metal and elements of slam, with “a few surprises here and there.” He also notes that the production is more organic this time around, with the album coming together as a collective effort from all five members.
