Death Angel are asking fans to support founding member and former bassist Dennis Pepa as he battles Stage 4 duodenal cancer.
The band shared a GoFundMe organized to help Pepa pursue cancer treatment in Mexico and provide financial support for his family during the months ahead.
“Please help our brother, friend, cousin, and founding member of Death Angel, Dennis Pepa, in his fight against cancer,” Death Angel wrote.
“He really needs the Metal community and beyond to come together and show their support in unity, as one of our own, that helped define this genre’s sound and attitude, as he fights this battle.”
Pepa revealed through the fundraiser that he was diagnosed with Stage 4 duodenal cancer in February 2026. He is seeking treatment at the Immunocine Cancer Center in Mexico and has set a fundraising goal of $150,000 to help cover treatment, travel, accommodations and everyday expenses for his family.
“I want to carry on watching my sons Maddox and Roman grow and build lives of their own,” Pepa wrote. “I want to marry my fiancée, Gemalyn, and continue being present for the people I love most. As a family we have so many plans, so many memories to create, and so many special moments ahead of us.”
Death Angel encouraged fans to donate whatever they can and to offer Pepa their support as he continues his fight.
“Let’s show Dennis he’s not alone fighting this battle,” the band added. “He has this whole amazing and tenacious Metal community by his side every step of the way!
“We love you Dennis!
“You got this brother!”
Pepa co-founded Death Angel and played bass with the Bay Area thrash metal band during its early years.
Fans can support Pepa and his family through the GoFundMe campaign.
