Wizardthrone have returned with “Death Cycles,” their first new song since the release of their 2021 debut album, Hypercube Necrodimensions.
The new track arrives alongside a revamped lineup featuring Michael Barber on vocals and guitar, Matthew Bell on guitar, Keiran Allen on bass, Christopher Bowes on keyboards and Isak Olsson on drums. Barber has moved into the lead vocalist role in addition to playing guitar.
The release follows Barber’s decision to depart Gloryhammer after a decade with the band in order to make Wizardthrone his primary focus.
“Ever since Hypercube Necrodimensions came out in 2021, I couldn’t stop thinking about writing more music and getting Wizardthrone on stage,” Barber said. “The ideas stacked up between other tours until it was obvious: This had to be my number one focus.”
“Death Cycles” was mixed by Dave Otero, while artwork was created by Dan Goldsworthy, who also designed the artwork for Hypercube Necrodimensions.
Barber added that more new music is currently in the works as Wizardthrone prepare to make their live debut at The Underworld in London on November 21.
The band will return to the road in January for a UK and Ireland tour supporting Alestorm and Battle Beast. Wizardthrone are also scheduled to perform at Masters of Rock in the Czech Republic next July.
