Share the post "Elder bassist Jack Donovan released from hospital following heart surgery"
Elder have shared a positive update on bassist Jack Donovan, confirming that he has been released from the hospital following open-heart surgery and is recovering.
The band previously postponed the remaining dates of their North American tour with Blackwater Holylight after Donovan was hospitalized in Portland with what was initially reported as a serious case of pneumonia.
In their latest social media update, Elder explained that Donovan became severely ill during the tour and was taken to the emergency room before being transferred to intensive care, where he was placed on a ventilator and sedated.
The band later learned that Donovan had been dealing with serious congenital heart issues, which they said were the underlying cause of his illness.
“Dear world, Jack is back!” Elder wrote. “Two weeks and one open heart surgery later, Jack is out of the hospital and well on the road to a full recovery.”
Elder thanked the friends who helped Donovan receive emergency treatment, as well as the medical staff at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland.
“We would like to thank everyone for your kind words and support over the past weeks,” the band continued. “These have been difficult and scary times for us, compounded by the fact that this happened in the middle of a tour and far from home.”
Regarding the postponed tour dates, Elder said they are close to finalizing a rescheduled itinerary and expect to announce the new dates soon.
“As far as the postponed shows go, we are VERY CLOSE to having makeup dates rescheduled and will be announcing them as soon as we can. Please bear with us a bit longer.”
No replacement dates have been confirmed yet.
We wish Donovan a continued and full recovery.
