Europe frontman Joey Tempest says a documentary chronicling the band’s history has been completed, with the group now looking for a platform to release it.
Tempest discussed the project during a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk, revealing that the documentary has already been narrated and edited.
“It’s done,” Tempest said. “We’re looking for a platform to get it out and we have just now started having some meetings.”
According to Tempest, the film traces Europe’s journey from the 1980s through the band’s difficult years in the 1990s and eventual return. He described the finished documentary as “so emotional” and said he hopes it will arrive sometime in early 2027.
“My guess, we’ll see it beginning of next year,” he said. “That’s my guess, and I hope this time it sticks.”
The documentary also includes previously unseen footage captured by Europe’s first manager, Thomas Erdtman, during the band’s early years. Tempest said the archive includes footage from hotel rooms and trips to places including Tokyo and San Francisco.
Although the documentary is essentially complete, Tempest said some additional editing is being done to bring the story up to the present day before its eventual release.
