Extinction A.D. have released their new single “Insomnia,” along with an accompanying visualizer. The track is available now on streaming and digital platforms.
“Insomnia” is the band’s seventh single in as many months and combines ‘80s Bay Area thrash, ‘90s extreme metal riffing, and New York hardcore.
Speaking about the song, vocalist/guitarist Rick Jimenez said it was inspired by the constant exposure to human rights violations, environmental concerns, and the pressure to simply carry on with everyday life.
“It’s difficult to break that cycle but understanding it and raging out against it is my first step,” Jimenez said. “Living life with a PEOPLE OVER PROFIT mentality is an act of defiance unto itself today.”
Jimenez also noted that the acoustic guitar heard during the interlude is the first guitar he ever owned, a nylon-string Franciscan guitar he got in 1992.
