German thrash metal veterans Exumer have released an official music video for “Blinding Skies,” a track from their latest album, Death Mask Messiah.
The record is out now through Metal Blade Records and marks Exumer’s first studio album in seven years. “Blinding Skies” addresses political overreach, prolonged conflict and the influence of the military-industrial complex.
“Driven by a relentless barrage of riffs, the song’s lyrical content highlights the consequences of political overreach and the influence of the military-industrial complex — pushing society into prolonged conflict that benefits a few at the expense of many,” vocalist Mem V. Stein said. “It’s a perspective we feel is important to highlight, given the platform we have and the current climate.”
Death Mask Messiah is Exumer’s sixth studio album and features 11 tracks produced by Dominic Paraskevopoulos, with mixing and mastering handled by Arthur Rizk. The record is also the band’s first LP featuring drummer Jerome Reil and bassist Alex Voss.
The album closes with a cover of Nasty Savage’s “Unchained Angel,” featuring guest vocals from the band’s Nasty Ronnie Galletti. Exumer previously toured with Nasty Savage during their first European tour in 1988.
Exumer have several live appearances scheduled through 2027, including Hell’s Heroes in Houston on March 20 and Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore in May.
