Texas death metal outfit Frozen Soul have announced the cancellation of their August tour following the recent deaths of the fathers of vocalist Chad Green and drummer Matt Dennard.
The band shared the news in a heartfelt statement from guitarist Chris Bonner, explaining that this marks the first time Frozen Soul have ever canceled a tour.
Bonner wrote: “We have never canceled a tour before in our existence as a band, but recently we have suffered some devastating losses in our families and we made the difficult decision to cancel our August tour next month.”
He noted that Green lost his father in May while the band was on tour, and that Dennard’s father unexpectedly passed away on July 10.
“Losing a parent is one of the hardest things to go through in life… We gave it the weekend to discuss moving forward with the tour, but right now we decided it would be best to take some extra time off to be with our families and help navigate these terrible losses.”
The band concluded their message by encouraging fans to cherish their loved ones: “Hug your friends and family a little tighter and tell them you love them every chance you get.”
Frozen Soul confirmed that their previously scheduled performance at Division Brewing this Saturday will still take place. The band also revealed that another tour announcement is planned for later this year.
Our thoughts are with Chad Green, Matt Dennard, their families, loved ones, and everyone in the Frozen Soul camp as they mourn these heartbreaking losses.
