Godflesh have announced their new album, Decay, which is set for release on September 25, 2026 via Relapse Records.
The six-track record will be the band’s tenth and penultimate album. It follows 2022’s Purge and was largely drawn from the same sessions that produced that record.
Along with the album announcement, Godflesh have released the first single, “Living/Ending.”
“Decay was born from the same sessions as Purge,” says mastermind Justin Broadrick. “It was one huge pool of songs. I picked what I felt was appropriate for what I wanted to achieve with Purge, with the intention of releasing the songs that didn’t fit as a new album within a year of Purge being released.”
Broadrick and bassist Ben Green recorded the album before Broadrick underwent major abdominal surgery earlier this year. The album was mixed following the surgery.
Broadrick has also described Decay as part of the closing chapter for Godflesh, calling it the band’s penultimate album.
“I’ve put my body and soul into this expression for the majority of my existence,” Broadrick says. “I feel quite lucky, because Godflesh is now physically impossible for me, rendering it useless. I now wish to move out of its constraints, move on creatively with heavy/ugly music to new ground.”
