L7 bassist has cancer

L7 bassist Jennifer Finch diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer

L7 bassist, photographer, and multidisciplinary artist Jennifer Finch has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer and is currently undergoing treatment.

According to a statement shared by the band, what initially appeared to be a condition that could be treated with radiation has progressed rapidly. Unexpected complications have required Finch to undergo multiple surgeries, resulting in significant physical limitations. She now requires ongoing medical care, rehabilitation, and professional in-home assistance.

To help with the mounting medical expenses and recovery costs, Finch’s friends, collaborators, and family have launched a GoFundMe campaign.

The diagnosis also means Finch will be unable to take part in the U.S. leg of L7’s previously announced Last Hurrah Tour this fall.

The band explained that the farewell tour was planned while all four members were healthy, but Finch has encouraged L7 to continue with the scheduled dates despite her absence.

Bandmate Donita Sparks shared: “We are all devastated by the news and are surrounding her with love, protecting her privacy and dignity, while helping raise the resources she urgently needs for the care ahead. Jennifer is family, and we want her to feel the full strength of the community that has loved and supported her for so many years.”

L7 says its immediate priority is helping spread awareness of Finch’s GoFundMe campaign and encouraging fans, friends, and the wider creative community to support her during her treatment and recovery.

Fans wishing to contribute can find the GoFundMe campaign here.
