Last night (December 17th), west coast metal legends Metallica performed the first of two 40th anniversary shows at the Chase Center in San Francisco, CA. The evening featured a 16-song set-list from Metallica, with tunes ranging from their entire discography. The band kicked off their 2-hour set with classics “Hit the Lights” (off ‘Kill ’Em All’) and “Creeping Death” and the rarely performed “Trapped Under Ice” from ‘Ride the Lightning.’
Additional highlights from ‘Tallica’s set included the first-ever performance of “Fixxxer” (as heard on ‘Reload’), their Budgie cover “Breadfan,” “Frantic” (off ‘St. Anger’), and closer “Spit Out the Bone’ (from ‘Hardwired… to Self‐Destruct’ and marking the first time they ended a show with that tune). The celebration also displayed old-school concert footage, new interviews, photo galleries and more via the giant LED screens hovering above the band.
The gig was streamed live courtesy of Amazon Music and The Coda Collection, and can be watched in full below via YouTube. The band play their second show at Chase Center this Sunday, Dec. 19th.
