Miss May I have shared a video for their new single “Highbrow Thieves,” another track from the band’s upcoming album, No Place For Me.
This time around, the “thieves” aren’t after money or possessions. The song takes aim at something a little harder to get back: time.
“‘Highbrow Thieves’ is written from the perspective of someone worked to the bone, taking orders from people with no remorse for who they’re giving them to,” vocalist Levi Benton explains. “The ‘thieves’ here aren’t after riches or objects — what they’re really stealing is something far more valuable: Time.”
“Highbrow Thieves” follows previously released tracks “Sanctuary,” “Hand Me A Halo,” “Pray for Silence,” “Death Threat” and “Die on the Vine.”
Benton says writing No Place For Me also became a personal process of figuring out where he stands today.
“No Place For Me is everything I’ve felt for a long time but never had the words for,” he says. “Writing it taught me who I actually am even when that hurt to look at. It’s a full journey: Where it started, what I discovered, and where I am today.”
Miss May I will spend November and December on the road with Born of Osiris for “The Perpetual Iron Tour.” The co-headlining run also features Convictions and Downswing, kicking off November 6 in Pontiac, Michigan and wrapping December 19 in Dayton, Ohio.
Tri-state area stops include Asbury Park, New Jersey on November 8 and Norwalk, Connecticut on November 10.
