Amorphis bassist Olli-Pekka Laine steps away from touring for remainder of 2026

Amorphis bassist Olli-Pekka “Oppu” Laine will sit out the band’s remaining shows this year due to personal reasons, with Pyry Hanski stepping in for the upcoming dates.

Laine shared the news in an update from the band, making clear that his absence is temporary and that he plans to return to Amorphis early next year.

“Due to personal reasons, I will be stepping aside from touring duties for the remainder of the year,” Laine said.

“The low end remains in the best possible hands, however. Our great friend and phenomenal bassist Pyry Hanski will step in to handle bass duties for the upcoming dates. Please give him a warm welcome and make sure to catch the shows!

“I will rejoin the ranks early next year. Thank you all for your continuous support and understanding.”

Hanski also commented on joining Amorphis for the remainder of their 2026 touring schedule.

“It’s a true honor to help out and jump in for the upcoming shows,” he said. “Huge thanks to Oppu and the guys for trusting me with this. Needless to say, I’m beyond excited and can’t wait to see you all on the road!”

Amorphis have a busy stretch of touring ahead, including their North American co-headlining run with Insomnium in November and December, with Hinayana supporting.
