Long Island progressive metal outfit Moon Tooth have announced a show in NYC at The Brooklyn Monarch for May 20th. The gig marks the band’s first live performance following guitarist Nick Lee’s recovering from life-threatening Encephalitisc.
ICYMI, Nick fell and hit his head on July 21, 2022 after suffering from a seizure during band rehearsal. Nick continued to experience seizures every night since then, and was eventually intubated and put in a medically induced coma in order to allow his body a chance to repair itself. Nick eventually received the diagnosis of Limbic Encephalitis, and underwent treatment with successful recovery.
“The way myself and the rest of Moon Tooth see this situation is we could hide from the mystery brain disease for another six months, a year, six years; or we could face it directly this Spring and do what we do best, which is play a killer live show alongside some of our best friends,” comments Nick. “We’ve been working our asses off to get back to tip top shape and I have been fortunate enough to have the most incredible support base a person could hope for in blood, family, and health, so let’s hang May 20th and truly make up for some lost time!”
The Brooklyn show features support from Astronoid, Cryptodira, and Somnuri. Get tickets here.
In addition, Moon Tooth have released a music video (directed by Tom Flynn) for “Grip on the Ridge,” which you can check out below. The track appears on the band’s latest full-length offering, ‘Phototroph.’
